Alt Title: The Year Of The Empire
Hello Lovelies!
This is the year we build our empire. I don’t mean that in an egotistical way, I mean it in a self-actualized, everything is coming together way.
When I use the term “empire,” I’m thinking of bigger picture things: whatever feels beyond ourselves. Maybe that starts with work or family, life-giving community, and even the kingdom of heaven. This year is all about working hard, valuable connections, and above all focusing on core values and what truly matters.
Start With Kindness
I know the phrase “Kingdom of Heaven” can be off-putting and very ‘christianese.’ Another way to think about this idea is asking yourself what energy you bring to the different areas of your life. Are you showing up to work with joy and honor? I saw a recent sermon talking about service, and the speaker defined service not as something you adjust your schedule for or something to check off your list, but really it is something you can bring everywhere. From school to home to work, with friends or with family, it is about how you model Christian values in doing good work. It is also about how you steward what you have been given. Ultimately, the goal is to make heaven crowded by just being kind.
Prayer Boards Over Vision Boards
Similarly to replacing terms like “resolutions” with “goals” I’m replacing “manifesting” and “vision” with prayer. I have loved making vision boards or mood boards for the new year and this year I will essentially be doing the same thing: printing inspiration photos from Pinterest, putting them together, but this year I am re-branding the title with “prayer.”
Words For The Year
As I think about 2025 and what I want to focus on throughout the year, two words come to mind: peace and build. This year I am pursuing peace from anxiety, peace that passes understanding, and just trusting that everything will work out.
The word build has been on my heart – to me it is the idea of working towards bigger things. It is about having dreams and taking charge as you make them reality.
I feel like these two words conflict in that peace is associated with rest and slow living while build is all about hustle. However the difference between these words creates balance for the year, with time for rest and time for hustle.
Inviting God Into Your Goals
In life, I have wasted so much time believing I can do things on my own. So if you are a believer and you are in a similar boat, let this be your reminder to just pray about it. Lastly, I highly recommend reading Philippians chapter 4 and find encouragement regarding some of these topics!
