Personal Styling 201: Incorporating Unique Pieces Into Your Capsule Wardrobe

Hello Lovelies!!

With the fall season quickly approaching, now is a great time to reevaluate your wardrobe! In previous blog posts, I have shared how you can develop a capsule wardrobe, but today is all about how you can take that a step further, adding in pieces that are unique to you.

First, Identify Your Style

Find keywords to describe what you wear, or what you want to wear. For me, I like to describe my style as both extra and versatile. Extra, meaning I love statement pieces (ruffles, feathers, even sequins – the kinds of items that become the whole focus of an outfit) and Versatile, meaning I like pieces that have multiple purposes and can be comfy while dressed up or casual while refined.

Identify your keywords, then the next time you shop look for pieces that fit that description!

Next, Find Items That Speak To Your Story

Shopping unconfidently can create a bad habit for buying clothes you don’t fully like – from jeans you hope to squeeze into to a dress you never bothered to alter. Instead of seeing shopping as either a chore or an opportunity to spend, remind yourself that now that your capsule wardrobe is complete, you don’t need anything unless it truly speaks to you. Be ruthless with your criteria and only bring home something that captures the style and narrative you want.

Put It All Together!

As you begin to collect different pieces, this will add more color to your capsule wardrobe and give you a new picture to your total personal style. Now that I have both capsule and non-capsule pieces, I am able to see what fabrics, silhouettes, colors, etc I gravitate towards, and work with that to find what feels the most me!

Styling Your Fall Wardrobe On A Budget

Hello Lovelies!

Today I just wanted to write y’all a quick post on how I am shopping this fall season! I have a quick update on some trends or themes I am loving as well as me ways I have already saved money on my favorite pieces!

The Color Palette

Ok I may be the only weirdo here but I love a good capsule wardrobe and the easiest way to make your fall wardrobe extra cute is to coordinate the colors! This year I have a lot of black, white, and cognac with pops of other earthy colors! In the past I have used a lot of navy or burgundy, typical fall colors, but this year I love orange or green accents! This color palette is extra easy because most of my wardrobe includes pieces I already have!

Pieces That Stand Out

One thing I love this year is my collection of face masks! So far I just have the slip silk mask but what makes this accessory extra fun is getting to add sunglass chains! Kind of a weird concept but I think it is so cute to add a little gold or pearl chain to dress up an outfit! BTW you do not need to spend much for masks, just find dupes on amazon!

Sneakers

My favorite new sneakers are the Veja V10s in black and white! They match my color palette and they are the only sneakers I need this season! I did not realize they would take so long to break in but they’re still worth it!

Finding The Best Deals

Aside from the Nordstrom sale (where I found my Spanx leggings, TopShop blazer, and favorite bodycon dress) one tip I have for finding budget friendly pieces is to just do a keyword search whenever you see something you like! I almost bought this one dress for 60 and after a little surfing found the cutest dupe at Target for only 25! I haven’t shared that look yet but I hope y’all are excited for some September inspo!

I hope you all enjoyed these shopping tips! If you want a more personalized look into your own wardrobe, my email is always open!
