New Kids On The Block: Summer Skincare Favorites

IMG_3761

Hello Lovelies!!

It has been a while since I have really gone in-depth with my skincare, but with the changing seasons, I have some exciting new additions to my collection! Below are my current favorite products both for the summer season and year round!

SuperGoop!

I am so glad I found THE BEST SUNSCREEN EVER!! The texture makes it so easy to wear this one under makeup, and it is the perfect product to protect my sensitive skin!

Isle Of Paradise

I have been trying their tanning water for a few months now and I love it! The product is so easy to apply and there are SO MANY BENEFITS to sunless tanning!

Glossier

I have been wanting to try this serum for a while now and I am so excited I finally got my hands on it! As someone who struggles with redness, added moisture from hyaluronic acid really helps calm and soothe my dry skin.

Tatcha

I have used the dewy skin mist for a few years now and I especially like to bring it out to prep my summer skin for some light makeup! Definitely a holy grail product!

Laneige

Dry lips can happen even in the summer so as a preventative and restorative measure, I love using this overnight lip mask!

Fresh

This is my no. 1 lip balm for during the day, and in the summer this product is perfect!! My favorite part about this product is how it is not sticky or waxy like other balms!

Summer Fridays

Another holy grail product for all seasons is the Jet Lag Mask! This moisturizing mask has so many uses and I love using it in my everyday routine and overnight if my skin needs extra help to not look tired! Though it’s not pictured above, it is definitely my favorite! And it now comes in a travel-friendly mini size!

Though this list has some new and old friends, these are the skincare products I will be reaching for the most throughout my adventures this summer!

2018 Beauty Resolutions: Skincare

Hello Lovelies!!

I am not usually one for resolutions (as I more-so believe in goals, short-term and long-term, that evolve constantly), but in the spirit of the new year, here are my favorite new beauty routines and tips for healthy, glowing skin!

WATER

You hear this a lot but drinking plenty of water each day has longterm benefits for your skin, and your overall health. The hard part is setting your goals and meeting them. I started out by challenging myself to drink a glass of water right when I wake up in the morning and right before I go to bed in addition to the typical amount of water I will drink during my day. Sometimes I will pour one class for before bed and refill it before I sleep so I can drink it first thing in the morning. Another helpful method is to carry a liter-sized bottle of water with you during the day and challenge yourself to drink all of it by a certain time.

After a few months of this new routine, I saw dramatic changes in my under-eye discoloration, and my skin naturally had more moisture!

A 3-Step Ritual

When diving into the skincare community for the first time, all anyone needs is three products: cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. If you are just starting out, go to your local drugstore and see what trusted products fit your skin type in each of these ares.

I started out using Clinique products, and their toner is still my FAVORITE for my normal skin. At the time I was a 13-year-old who had saved up enough allowance to afford travel sized products, and it was one of the best purchases I ever made!

Currently, my favorite cleanser is from Fresh. It smells amazing like cucumbers in a spa, and it is the most gentle cleanser out there!

A new moisturizer I LOVE is The Water Cream by Tatcha. While my skin is more normal to dry, I prefer the more gel-textured moisturizers for oily skin as they are a great base for the res of my beauty routine!

Add More Steps

A skincare ritual can have as many as 20 different steps (I know, that sounds insane!), and nighttime skincare can be completely different from morning skincare! If you are looking to customize your routine, I recommend adding serums and other creams to focus on specific skin concerns.

As I mentioned before, one of my concerns is my under-eye discoloration and puffiness. So, at the end of my routine, I like to use eye masks from Peter Thomas Roth followed by my favorite eye cream from Tarte. I am also currently working on a serum routine including the Dr. Jart Cicapair Tigergrass Serum, which I apply after toner and before moisturizer!

Moisturize EVERYTHING

As we invest in moisturizing our faces, we forget about the rest of our bodies. A youthful, dewy face does not pair with dry legs! I have started leaving my Aveno body lotion next to my other daily products so I use it as a part of my morning routine! I also try to apply my Tatcha moisturizer to my neck, as that area ages pretty quickly! For my lips, I love using a lip scrub from Lush followed by my favorite balm from Fresh! Lastly, I also have to moisturize my hair either with Its A 10 leave in conditioner or the new daytime protective fluid from Bumble and Bumble!

Skin Mists and Sprays are My New Obsession

I will probably go into more detail later, but I HAVE to use either the Luminous Dewy Skin Mist from Tatcha or the Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbes, and Rosewater from Mario Badescu before and after makeup application, and throughout the day! These products work to prolong the look of makeup, improve skin texture, and continuously refresh the skin!

MULTIMASK

Masks are fun to use for special occasions, but one thing I figured out in 2017 is that some masks aren’t meant for the entire face. If I multitask before an event, I typically use   the (holy grail) GlamGlow Supermud on my nose and chin, the Peter Thomas Roth eye patches I mentioned before, and a brightening or retexturing mask on my cheeks!

Essentially, it is important to use these products sparingly and only over problem areas.

Double Cleansers!!

This adds another important step to the nighttime skin ritual, especially after a long day of wearing makeup and such. A double cleanse, per the title, involves two different cleansers, one oil-based and one water-based. I typically will use Take The Day Off by Clinique followed by my Fresh cleanser, though I also enjoy the Kyoto Cleanse by Tatcha. The first step easily removes makeup without the use of cotton pads or paper products, and the second steps removes oil and excess dirt from the skin to reset the face! This way, one can remove makeup and impurities without also clogging their pores!

Read the Label!

This is one of my most important personal goals this year. We may get excited over the latest brand-name beauty products, but I now refuse to purchase anything without knowing all the ingredients.

For example, my favorite toner from Clinique includes denatured alcohol, which is not usually recommended for acne-prone skin. Though the trend of alcohol-free toners has grown in the last few years, I still approve of the product as it deeply clears my pores and aids the absorption of my serum routine.

I recommend reading the ingredients list as well as the reviews before purchasing a new product. Do the ingredients work towards what the product claims to do? Do customers with similar skin concerns notice improvements from the product?
