Dropping the classic “hello lovelies” intro for this blog post! After 8 years of blogging and creating content, I thought we could reflect on one of my favorite topics: goal setting. I hope this encourages you to take your dreams seriously and apply actionable steps to achieving your goals.
What first inspired me to “go for it” in this industry was a New Years Goals List. I have loved a good vision board/goals list ever since high school and I strongly believe in visualizing and writing down or praying about your dreams.
Just like filling out your weekly schedule or to do list, a goals list is just on a larger scale – personally I’ve loved making quarterly and annual goals, though in school I also would create semester goals.
If you’re feeling really fancy, I highly recommend a 5 or 10 year dreams and goals list, and then comparing that to your next few months – what steps do you want to be completed in a short time? What habits will help you towards your goals?
Document it. Document your intentions but more importantly document your progress. It is always encouraging to see all the progress on paper, and it will not only help you on your journey but it will also help you evolve along the way. Dreams shift and change, and that’s ok because so do you!
You may not understand why you have a certain dream. Maybe you think it is too big or too different, but it was planted in your heart for a reason. As we work to find out that reason, that purpose, I hope you know the dream is not forgotten.
In the waiting, the best thing you can do is simply keep showing up for yourself and the dream, even when progress feels slow or unclear. The quiet work, the behind-the-scenes effort, the seasons where no one is clapping — they all matter more than you think.
Remember that reaching a goal is not instant. Growth often happens in layers, and what feels like waiting may actually be preparation. Trust the process, trust the timing, and trust that your effort is not wasted.
And on the days when doubt creeps in, come back to this truth:
“Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
