Hello Lovelies!
I love this blog post idea!! I have wanted to talk about wardrobing and everything for a while now but I wanted to gather enough research before getting something together and here is what we have: my insight and advice on building a capsule wardrobe!
Colors
Commit to your colors early! First, pick if you want cooler colors or warmer colors. Do you prefer dark grey or navy? This will tell you what neutral colors to start with! From there, pick your favorite colors to compliment your favorite looks! For me I prefer grey, whites, and blacks to start for neutrals, then I like adding in browns and denims then each season I have my favorite pops of color! Right now I like greens, yellows, and reds but more specifically, olive, mustard, and rust!
Start With Bottoms
Mostly pants, but also jeans, leggings, and a few skirts in your neutral colors. I started with a simple pair of black jeans, some faux leather leggings, straightly jeans in a mid or light wash, and bikers shorts because that is still in style for casual wear! From there I will add in cute skinny jeans or pattered skirts that can be worn with different outfits!
Dresses
Two dresses in black is all you need, but as you add to your wardrobe you can have pieces that compliment your colors or cute dresses to just wear on their own! I recommend one short dress and one long dress, both designed to flatter your shape and last for years!
Tops
This is where you can have fun! Make sure you cover your bases with basic tees and sweaters but then you can add cute blouses to mix with cardigans or blazers! It is important to have plenty of neutrals and personally I love adding color with items that can be word with multiple outfits!
Jackets and Outerwear
I love a good plaid blazer, camel peacoat, tan trench, and black puffer jacket, but from there your choices can be based on your personal style so have fun!
Shoes!
Ok this is easy, you can still have a mountain of shoes in your closet but honestly I can get by with a pair of sneakers and black booties!
This was certainly a quick read but that is the point of a capsule wardrobe! Simple and easy! Here I will link some of my top pieces to get your capsule wardrobe started!
